FOR PATIENTS WHO ARE TO RECEIVE I.V. SEDATION:

Do not eat for at least 8 hours prior to your scheduled appointment. You may have clear liquids up to 3 hours pre-op. (This means no cream in the coffee)

*Take your regular medications, the morning of surgery with sips of water only.*

You must be accompanied by a responsible adult to escort you home. Your surgery will not start until your escort is present, or your surgery may be cancelled. Escorts must remain in the office during the surgical procedure.

We suggest that you wear loose fitting, comfortable clothing, and please do not wear high heel shoes or sandals. Your blood pressure will be monitored, so you should wear a short sleeve shirt. Do not wear jewelry, watches, make-up, finger nail polish, or contact lenses.

All males must be clean shaven.

Science has shown that there are significant benefits to not smoking before surgery. We encourage you not to smoke for as long a period as possible before your surgery.

AFTER YOUR APPOINTMENT
You will be drowsy and be detained in our recovery room for l5-20 minutes. Your escort may sit with you in this area.

You are firmly encouraged not to drive an automobile or operate machinery for 24 hours following surgery. Also, do not drink alcoholic beverages for 24 hours.

Because the pain pills that you may be prescribed will have a greater sedative effect after I.V. Sedation, you may find yourself napping the afternoon following your surgery. Please have a responsible adult about at this time, especially if small children are in your care.

IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO KEEP YOUR APPOINTMENT WE ASK THAT YOU PROVIDE US WITH 24 HOURS NOTICE SO THAT THE TIME MAY BE USED TO SERVE OTHERS. FAILURE TO CONTACT US MAY RESULT IN AN ADDITIONAL FEE.
